Flasch Counseling & Consulting

About me
I’m so glad you’ve taken the first step to explore counseling services to enhance the quality of your life and your relationships. It takes courage to reach out, and I applaud you for making this decision.
My name is Dr. Paulina Flasch. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), and an associate professor in the counseling program at Texas State University. I am originally from Sweden, but grew up in a home where my parents were Jewish refugees from Eastern Europe during the 1960s and 70s, and my grandparents were Holocaust survivors. I have a passion for supporting Jewish clients in the current climate of global antisemitism that brings about both new and generational trauma.
Educational Background & Training
I received my Ph.D. in Counselor Education from the University of Central Florida (UCF) in 2016. I received my Master’s in Science and Education Specialist degrees in Couple and Family Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNC-G) in 2012. Prior to that, I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
I am also an Associate Professor in the Professional Counseling program at Texas State University, where I teach courses in couple, family, and individual counseling, trauma, research, and others, as well as conduct research on family violence, relationships, Jewish issues, and antisemitism. I am a member of the American Counseling Association, in addition to several other professional organizations.
Clinical Background
I have training and experience working with individuals, couples, families, children, college students, and groups in a variety of settings. Beginning in 2011, I have worked in private practice, community counseling and university settings (including counseling clinics and a study abroad office), residential treatment, and intensive in-home therapy settings. I have worked with individuals from a wide variety of multicultural backgrounds (e.g., socioeconomic status, cultural/ethnic, religious, gender, sexual orientation) who present with a wide range of concerns (e.g., relational issues, mood disorders, trauma, career, and more).
